    Welcome to the Lom Lab Protocols Resource! 

    Before beginning a discussion to add a protocol, please search to ensure that your protocol has not already been posted. If it has, please post your revisions as comments to the original protocol, not as a new discussion. This ensures that we will have all revisions documented. The site administrator will periodically update the original protocol to reflect all of the revisions the commenters suggest; however, because the protocols will not be continuously updated, please read through the comments when using a protocol to gather the most current methodology.

    If you do post a new protocol, please use the standard font and (except for recipes) copy and paste the following header, changing the information accordingly:

    This protocol explains how to: inject hCG into adult female frogs.

    Please do not copy protocols from Microsoft Word and paste them into a discussion because the formatting can disrupt our forum. Instead, copy and paste from Microsoft Word to Notepad or TextEdit (to make it plain text) and then copy and paste into the forum and make formatting changes.  Please see the comments below for instructions on adding video segments and images to your protocols.

    POSTING VIDEOS ON PROTOCOL WEBSITE:

     

    1. Upload short (~40 sec) video to YouTube.com (if you do not have a YouTube account, please email balom@davidson.edu for the lab account information).  Make sure to turn OFF ratings, comments, etc.  Please include only minimal descriptions and titles for your video (e.g. "Technique" is an appropriate title).
    2. On the procotol you are posting, click the "Source" button.  This will reveal the html code of your protocol.  Paste the "embed" code provided by YouTube.com into an appropriate space in your html code.
    3. Click "Save Changes."

    POSTING IMAGES ON PROTOCOL WEBSITE:

    1. Upload the images to Photobucket.com (if you do not have a Photobucket account, please email balom@davidson.edu for the lab account information.  Please do not use other image hosting services because some of them delete images after a certain period of time).  Now your image has a "URL" or web address.
    2. When writing your protocol, place your cursor at the location you want your picture to appear within the protocol.  Click the Insert/Edit Image button and paste in the URL of the image you just uploaded.  Enter the dimensions of the image and put a "1" in the "Border" box to create a 1-pixel border around your image.  Click "OK."
