Only run the dishwasher when the large jug of pure dishwasher water (sits on the counter above the dishwasher) is filled to the halfway point or higher. If it needs more water, fill it with deionized water from the Millipore unit on the wall.

DISHWASHER HAS CHANGED: The settings for the dishwasher the lab uses in its current location is different than the settings outlined above. The updated instructions for the dishwasher in the prep room between Watson 157 (current lab location) and Watson 147 are:

    1. Take dishes to prep room on a cart.

    2. Load dishwasher. Pull both racks out when loading (because some of the taller graduated cylinders will be taller than the top rack when placed on the bottom rack). Large glassware can be washed on the bottom rack and smaller glassware can be washed on the top rack. Very small beakers (10 mL or less) and small non-glassware (spatulas, stirrers, jar caps, etc.) can be wahed in the metal basket on the top rack.

    3. Push "Standard Wash", "Standard 20 MIN", and "Pure Rinse." (see picture below)

    4. Push "Start."

    5. Fill out dishwasher log (currently titled "Whose Stuff is in the Dishwasher?")

    6. Once dishwasher is finished, refill the large, off-white water container beside dishwasher with water from  the deionized water container.

    7. To refill the container, attach one end of the clear tube located on the counter to the spigot of the dionized water container and place the other end inside the water container. (see picture below)

    8. Open spigot on the deionized water container and allow the water container to fill until full.

    9. Place cap back on water container. DO NOT TIGHTEN CAP, JUST SET IT ON TOP OF THE OPENING. (Tightening the cap will cause pressure to form in the water container as some is removed for the dishwasher.)
